I get funny looks when I am digging in the scrap metal bin at the local machine shop. I guess I know why! This is usually not a woman’s work. I turn the scraps I find into pieces of metal art. I hammer, bend, and cut my pieces until I am satisfied with their shapes and message. It all started when I was very young, and I was mesmerized by the smells of melting steel and the sounds of pounding hammers in my grandfather’s welding shop! I am self-taught.
I reside in Lafayette, Louisiana; my workshop is located in nearby New Iberia.
